Sunday Shutout

The Dores start the 2025 season 2-0

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – No. 17 Vanderbilt soccer took a 2-0 victory over Louisville Sunday evening at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex. It marks the second consecutive season opening the season with back-to-back shutouts.

Freshman Olivia Stafford broke open the scoring off a long ball assist from Mary Beth McLaughlin to register her first career goal in the 13th minute of the contest.

Vanderbilt doubled its lead just minutes later when Stafford was fouled inside the box, setting up a penalty kick. Junior Courtney Jones stepped up for the penalty and drove the ball bottom right, just under Louisville’s Erynn Floyd’s hand to give Vandy its final advantage of the night.

In goal, Vandy keeper Sara Wojdelko made three stops, leaving her just seven saves away from reaching 100 in her career. The Commodores controlled 54 percent of possession and placed four shots on frame in the victory.

Vanderbilt hits the road for the first time this season on Thursday, traveling to Tennessee Tech for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff on ESPN+.
