NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt lacrosse team is headed indoors once again.
Sunday’s game against No. 11 Stanford at 1 p.m. has been moved to the Multipurpose Facility due to the condition of the field at the VU Lacrosse/Soccer Complex after snow and ice hit Nashville on Thursday. This marks the third straight game Vanderbilt has played in the Multipurpose Facility, as games against Boston University and Denver were also played inside two weeks ago.
As always, admission is free. Fans can enter at the glass doors accessing the lobby located at the Southeast side of the building. Spectators will be allowed to view the game from the second-floor balcony located on the West side of the facility. Parkins is available in the flat lots located at Natchez Trace and Children’s Way. The game will be streamed online. To watch, click here.
Just about every game Vanderbilt has played this year has been affected by the weather. The Commodores’ season opener was played in ideal conditions on Feb. 7 at the VU Lacrosse Complex. When the Commodores took the field against Kennesaw State, they were greeted by sunshine and 63 degrees. Since then, Mother Nature has had its say. Their next game against Liberty in Lynchburg, Va., featured a game-time temperature of 18 degrees with a wind chill of 3. Then the next two home games were moved inside to the Multipurpose Facility due to snow and ice. Last weekend’s game against No. 12 Penn in Philadelphia was played in snow and sleet and in below-freezing temperatures.
The facility, which was completed in November 2013, was made possible due to generous donations from numerous philantropists and also houses a 300-meter indoor track and allows for track meets, along with football, lacrosse and soccer practices.
