NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With the calendar about to flip over to August, a few members of Vanderbilt’s men’s tennis team have recently posted strong showings in tournament play.
Competing on the ITA Summer Circuit, rising junior Alex DiValerio finished runner-up at the Cornell ITA Summer Tournament held July 24-27. DiValerio won five matches before losing to Matthew Kandath of Stanford, 6-3, 7-5, in the final.
A few days before DiValerio’s runner-up finish, incoming freshman Blake Bazarnik of Kildeer, Ill., earned three wins at the USTA Boys’ 18s National Clay Court Championships July 18-25 before falling in the round of 16. The tournament was played in Delray Beach, Fla.
