Vanderbilt’s Student-Athletes of the Month are selected on the basis of the all-around student-athlete… effort and excellence in academics, leadership, integrity, dedication to team, campus involvement, community service and the ability to serve as role models for current and future VU students and student-athletes.
October’s selections are Thomas Davis (Men’s Cross Country) and Rita Jorgensen (Women’s Cross Country).
“Thomas has been a real leader for the men’s team this season,” Steve Keith, VU cross country head coach, said. “While Thomas has a lot on his plate with school, Ingram scholar obligations and his running, he does a great job of making it all fit.
“Building off of a solid freshman year, Rita has really started to assert herself in cross country this fall,” he continued. “Hard work and consistent training are paying big dividends for Rita, and I see even better races for her in the upcoming championship part of our season.”
