FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — An individual victory and a double-figure number of student-athletes with their best times of the campaign highlighted Vanderbilt swimming’s final competition of the 2025-26 regular season on Friday.
Melissa Cowen posted a first-place finish to lead the Commodores at Arkansas, while Bailey Ratzburg and Abigail Hite had multiple season-low marks although Vandy would end up falling 145-108 to the Razorbacks at the Arkansas Natatorium.
“We felt like we had a really great team performance today as seen by the number of season-best times,” head coach Jeremy Organ said. “As we look forward to the championship season we need to just keep working on the little details for great performances.”
Postseason action for the Dores will get underway when the SEC Championships begin on Feb. 17.
Meet Highlights
-Cowen won the 200 breast to claim Vandy’s only individual victory of the day.
-Aubrey Hull touched the wall second in the 100 back.
-In the following race, Emily Constable and Cowen posted a two-three finish in the 100 breast.
-Kate Heintz placed third to lead the Commodores in the 200 fly.
-Hull would go on to add another second-place finish in the 200 back.
-In the 500 free, Elayne Chen and Kendall Hall touched the wall second and third, respectively, to pace Vandy while Ratzburg and Liv Gooding added another two-three result in the final individual event of the afternoon, the 400 IM.
Notes
-Cowen’s victory in the 200 breast was her first of the season.
-With a career-best time of 4:22.31 in the 400 IM, Ratzburg moved up a spot into fifth place on Vanderbilt’s all-time performer list in the event.
-Quinlan Hinerfeld made the CSCAA National Invitational Championship B cut in the 200 back after touching the wall in a season-low 2:01.44.
-This was the second straight competition that Hite has finished with a career-best performance in the 50 free, leading Vandy with a 23.77 time in the event.
-Ratzburg posted a career-low 1:51.28 mark in the 200 free as well.
-Gooding’s 4:26.49 time in the 400 IM was the fastest of her career.
-After touching the wall in 2:05.40, freshman Ava Allingham finished with a career-low mark in the 200 fly for the second time this semester.
-It was the second time in three weeks that Constable has recorded a season-low mark in the 100 breast after finishing in 1:02.62, less than two-tenths of a second behind the race winner.
-Amelia Harper posted her fastest time of the season in the event as well after finishing in 1:03.46.
-With a 23.97 mark in the 50 free, Jenna Ravarino had her best time of the campaign while both Hite (52.20) and Ryen Bosuro (52.54) added season-best marks in the 100 free and Ellie Butler touched the wall in the 200 free in a season-low 1:52.46.
-Chen (5:05.24) and Hall (5:05.56) gave the Dores another pair who recorded their fastest times of the season in the same event with the duo accomplishing the feat in the 500 free.
-The Commodores ended the meet with a season-best performance in the 400 free relay after Hull, Hite, Bosuro and Cowen combined to post a time of 3:25.71.
