Bob Gavagan

Bob Gavagan began as associate athletic director for marketing at Vanderbilt in April 2024.

Prior to joining the Commodore athletic staff, he was at Virginia Tech for nearly nine years in multiple roles beginning as assistant director of marketing and fan experience in 2015. Gavagan was promoted to associate director in October 2018 and almost three years later moved up again to senior director. He was assistant athletics director of marketing and fan development for the Hokies for nearly two years at the Blacksburg, Virginia, school before moving to Nashville.

Gavagan worked as both an intern in compliance and assistant equipment manager while studying for his master’s degree at Canisius. He was a marketing assistant at Wake Forest and Notre Dame prior to starting at Virginia Tech.

Gavagan—who hails from Clifton Park, New York—received a bachelor’s degree in marketing/management from Siena in 2010, adding a master’s degree in sport administration from Canisius in 2014. He enjoys playing golf and listening to live music in his free time, and resides in Nashville with his wife, Gina.
