Spring's Sprung Early

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The 2025 spring season begins this week for the No. 15-ranked Vanderbilt men’s golf team as the Commodores head to the Golden State to participate in the 2025 Southwestern Invitational. The event takes place Monday-Wednesday at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California.

Tournament Format
The Southwestern Invitational, hosted by Pepperdine, is a 54-hole stroke play tournament that features one 18-hole round per day. The event begins Monday and runs through Wednesday at the Sherwood Country Club.

Course Information
The tournament will be held at Sherwood Country Club. It is a 7,076-yard course that plays as a par 71.

The Field
A total of seven teams ranked in the top 25 of the CLIPPD rankings will be in attendance at the Southwestern Invitational. Along with the No. 15-ranked Commodores, No. 5 Texas, No. 10 UCLA, No. 11 Arizona, No. 14 Florida, No. 19 Pepperdine, and No. 24 Duke will be at Sherwood Country Club. California, Chattanooga, San Diego State, San Jose State, and Washington round out the field.

Tee Times
Each day of the Southwestern Invitational features one 18-hole round of stroke play that begins at 11 a.m. CT.

Vanderbilt tees off Round 1 from 12:50-1:34 p.m. CT on Monday. Tee times for Rounds 2 and 3 will be based on the results from the previous day. Fans can click the link here for tee times.

“This is the earliest we’ve ever started our spring season, and I know the guys are excited to get this going. I’m proud of the investment and ownership I’ve seen a lot of guys take this off-season. I like the leadership of this team, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can become this spring. It’s important as the season continues that guys embrace their roles and continue to take ownership of this team and our actions. This is our final spring with Gordon and Jackson, and I am so appreciative of all that each of them and their families have given to Vandy golf. I know they have some things that they want us to accomplish. Their leadership and desire to be great will be instrumental in helping us do those things.”

“We are heading to the Los Angeles area, where there has been so much devastation with the wildfires.  We are so sorry for what that area has gone through, and we will continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers. This is a new tournament for us, and we do trips like this to help us get uncomfortable and grow as a team. Sherwood Country Club is a special place with a lot of history, so it’s an exciting start to our spring journey together with a great opportunity against a strong field.”
