Angie Nicolletta

Assistant Coach

Angie Nicolletta is beginning her fifth season at Vanderbilt as assistant coach. Nicolletta joins the Commodores after spending time as a volunteer assistant coach at the United States Air Force Academy.

Her fourth season saw continued growth from the strong freshman class that she brought to campus
the season before. The sophomore class was led by Kara Lucenti and Breanna Sapienza and the second year class played a role in all six school records that were set the previous year. Angie continued to bring in talented freshman classes and the 15-16 class was no different. All four freshman made swims at the 2016 SEC Championships and Breanna Goldblatt set a freshman record in the 50 freestyle.

In her third season with the Commodores Nicolletta brought in an extremely talented group of freshmen that set five freshmen records and brought great support to the freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and relay events. In 2014-15 season Organ and the ‘Dores went 10-9, defeating Campbell, WKU, UALR, UWF, UNF, Marshall, Xavier and Wingate. Angie was instrumental in the recruiting of four incoming freshmen who all are ranked in the top-25 of their respective states. To cap off the 2013 season the Commodores broke 14 school records at SECs, only to out-do the feat last season setting 15 school marks. Vandy also posted six NCAA B-cuts in the 2014 season SEC Championships, two better than the 2012-13 season.

Nicolletta spent 2011-12 at the Air Force Academy, while also serving as swim coach and aquatic supervisor at The Club at Flying Horse in Colorado Springs. She helped the Falcons set five school records at this season’s Mountain West Championships.

Prior to her time at the Air Force Academy, Nicolletta served as the Head Site Coach for Stingrays Swimming in Marietta, Ga. With Stingrays, she directly coached swimmers aged eight to 17, while also overseeing four assistant coaches. Before Stingrays, Nicolletta spent three years as an assistant coach with the Lakeside Seahawks in Louisville, Ky.

As a collegiate swimmer at Louisville, Nicolletta set a school record in the 200-fly, while also contributing to school records in the 200-free relay, 400-medley relay and 400-free relay. She also scored a number of top-five finishes for the Cardinals at Conference USA Championship meets, competing predominantly in sprint freestyle and butterfly events.

A native of Marietta, Ga., Nicolletta graduated from Louisville in 2005 with a degree in sports administration.
