HONORS
2017 SEC Academic Honor Roll

2018
Sheffield has enjoyed his best season as a senior… Earned 11 starting assignments at cornerback… Finished the regular season with several career highs, including 27 solo tackles, 38 total tackles and five pass breakups… Opened the season with six tackles in win over Middle Tennessee… Contributed season-high of seven tackles at Notre Dame and against South Carolina… Season high of two pass breakups came in win over Nevada… Posted a pair of solo stops against Baylor in Texas Bowl.

2017
Sheffield saw action in all 12 games in the defensive secondary, playing both cornerback and nickel book… Finished with 14 total tackles, including seven solo stops, and a defensed pass… Posted single-game highs with three solo tackles and five total tackles in victory over Alabama A&M… Also had multiple tackles against Alabama, Florida and Ole Miss.

2016
Sheffield played in every game as a sophomore defensive back, earning a larger role as the season endured… Played both nickel back and cornerback in the Commodore secondary… Concluded the season with seven total tackles, including four solo stops… Posted multiple tackles against Middle Tennessee and Missouri.

2015
Limited by an injury early in the year, Sheffield came on to create valuable role in Commodore secondary as true freshman… Played in the final six games, contributing at cornerback and nickel back… Finished the year with five total tackles, including four solo stops… Also registered a pair of defensed passes against Texas A&M.

HIGH SCHOOL
Senior captain and three-time starter in secondary for one of Tennessee’s most powerful private schools… As two-way starter, helped Ensworth to 34-3 overall record, Division II-AA state titles in 2012 and 2013, and the D-II state title game in 2014… As senior, registered 33 tackles and six interceptions as CB, and posted 16 touchdowns as RB, earning First Team D-II All-State and All-Midstate honors… Named to Tennessean’s Dandy Dozen All-Region team… Ended prep career with 12 interceptions, 121 tackles and 21 defensed passes on defense, and 23 total touchdowns and more than 2,000 rushing yards on offense… Captured state triple jump title as a junior with 46’11” leap.

Donovan Alexander Sheffield… Born May 31, 1997 in Nashville… Son of Robert and Tamara Sheffield… Has four siblings: three sisters, Symone, Mykah and Jai; and a brother, Ryan… Dad played cornerback at Vanderbilt from 1993-96… Will become third-generation college football player in family… Working toward a degree in human and organizational development.
