Nelson handled handling chores on Commodore conversion units for all 12 games… Also had two punts early in the year, with one landing inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

2016
Nelson saw the first collegiate action on special teams as a third-year walk-on with the Commodores… Had two punts in the opener against South Carolina before Sam Loy took over the chores.

2015
Nelson did not see game action as a second-year punting prospect.

2014
Nelson did not see game action as a first-year kicking prospect… Walk-on spent the season as a reserve punter.

High School
Earned three varsity letters… Two-year starting punter and placekicker for Birmingham-area school… Named All-Area punter as senior after averaging 43 yards… Also lettered on golf team… Recipient of the state’s Bryant-Jordan Scholarship and school’s top scholar-athlete as senior.
