Tosin Abari

Tosin Abari is in his third season at Vanderbilt and first as the director of player development.

In 2013, Abari was a football video productions and recruiting assistant. Prior to 2013, Abari spent the 2012 season as a volunteer recruiting assistant for the Commodores.

From 1999-2003, Abari attended the University of Maryland at College Park and played on the defensive line under the direction of Ron Vanderlinden (1999-2000) and Ralph Friedgen (2001-2003). During the 2001-2003 seasons, Maryland enjoyed three consecutive 10-win seasons and two bowl wins (2002 Peach Bowl & 2004 Gator Bowl). Additionally, the Terps won the ACC Championship in 2001 and were awarded a spot in the 2002 Orange Bowl.

Soon after, Abari began a career with the federal government working at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. He served several years as a contract specialist, primarily focusing on building relationships between small businesses and the United States Department of Defense.

Upon leaving the government in 2010 to further pursue a career in football, Abari served as a defensive line student assistant with the Temple Owls from 2010-2011. From 2011-2012, Abari held a dual football operations/coaching assistant internship with the Arena Football League’s Philadelphia Soul.

Abari earned his bachelor’s degree from Maryland in 2003 with a double major in Economics and Criminal Justice. In 2006, he attained a master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

A native of Washington, DC,Abari is married to the former Tonya Wells.
