2016
Dowling enjoyed the most significant role of his Commodore career, playing in every game as the team’s top blocking tight end… Dowling also earned starts in two-tight end alignments against Florida, Kentucky, Georgia, Missouri and NC State… Dowling’s only catch of the season resulted in a six-yard gain against Middle Tennessee.

2015
Dowling played in 10 games, seeing action as tight end and on special team units… Earned first career start in multiple tight end formation at Ole Miss… Did not register a catch during season.

2014
Dowling contributed on offense and special teams as a redshirt freshman… After wearing jersey No. 72 as a reserve offensive tackle through six games, switched to No. 98 as a blocking tight end for the second half of season… As OT/TE, registered four pancake blocks… Also saw action on FG and PAT conversion units.

Spring 2013
Dowling enrolled in Vanderbilt classes in January… Participated in spring drills as prospective offensive lineman… He did not see action as a true freshman offensive lineman.

High School
Team captain as junior and senior… Two-year starting offensive lineman at Fallbrook Union… As senior, earned All-CIF First Team OL recognition and all-conference status and team’s MVP OL award… Participated in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl after senior campaign… Played varsity as ninth grader at North Kingstown (R.I.) H.S.

Sean M. Dowling… Majoring in Communication Studies while enrolled in Vanderbilt’s Naval ROTC program… Son of Christopher and Karen Dowling… Born March 31, 1995 near Washington DC… Has a younger brother, Collin… Dad holds rank of colonel in U.S. Marine Corps; mom is an attorney and retired from active duty in the Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel… Maternal grandfather also retired as a Marine Corps officer… Involved in church activities in hometown.
