2009
Participated in 10 games as redshirt sophomore… Only action at quarterback was in closing minutes of win over Western Carolina… Did not have pass attempt… Also contributed on punt coverage units, earning one tackle on the season.

2008
Funk did not see game action as a redshirt sophomore as Chris Nickson and Mackenzi Adams took every snap through 11 games and Larry Smith saw limited action in the finale at Wake Forest… Showed a strong arm in fall practice.

2007
Did not see game action as a redshirt freshman quarterback, working behind Chris Nickson, Mackenzi Adams and Richard Kovalcheck… Served as practice squad quarterback, and earned team[apos]s Offensive Scout of the Week honor after Auburn game.

2006
Redshirted as a freshman… Participated as scout quarterback, taking Offensive Scout of the Week honors after Arkansas and Tennessee games.

High School
Senior captain… Three-year starter at quarterback for Lions…Guided 2005 squad to school[apos]s best regular season record (8-1) since 1986… Team advanced to second round of 6A playoffs, tying best mark in school history… As senior, named East Suburban Catholic League Player of the Year and First Team All-State by Illinois Coaches Association… Amassed 2,720 yards of total offense as senior, throwing for 1,952 yards and 19 TDs while rushing for 768 yards and 10 TDs… Hit on 62.4% of passes… Also served as punter… Starting forward in basketball and pitcher in baseball… A National Honor Society member and Academic All-State recipient.

Jared Milton Funk… Son of Craig and Christine Funk… Youngest of four siblings – two brothers and a sister… Enjoys snowboarding… Community service involvement includes volunteering at local homeless shelter and counseling at youth basketball camps… St. Viator alum also former Tennessee Titan FB Jarrett Payton and former Northwestern record-breaking QB Brett Besanez… Expected to earn undergraduate degree in Economics in May 2009… He is a two-time SEC Academic Honor recipient.
