Soccer Visits No. 22 Georgia

Bulldogs are third ranked opponent for Vandy in first four SEC matches

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt soccer hits the road for the third time in SEC play against No. 22 Georgia on Friday at 5 p.m. at Turner Soccer Complex.

This marks the first time in program history in which the Dores open conference action facing three top-25 teams on the road in four matches.

  • Vanderbilt holds a 15-12-2 edge in a series that started with 3-1 Commodore victory in 1995
  • The last time the two teams faced was in a 1-1 draw during the 2022 season at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex. Current senior keeper Kate Devine tallied a season-high seven saves in the match

Last time on the pitch

The Dores fell at ninth-ranked Alabama 1-0 on Sunday night in Tuscaloosa. Vanderbilt held the Crimson Tide scoreless through the first 40 minutes of the match, but Alabama found the back of the net to score the lone goal of the contest.

Devine registered three saves in the first frame on Alabama’s four shots on goal. Devine finished with five saves, matching her season high (vs. Kansas State 8.31.23). She also has the fifth-best save percentage in the conference (.781) and is tied for sixth-most total saves with 25 on the year.

The Commodores outshot the Crimson Tide 13-9 in the match, holding Alabama to its second-lowest number of shots this season. The Dores earned nine corner kicks, the second most this season (10 vs. Ole Miss, 9.21.23).
