Soccer Unveils 2022 Schedule

Nine home contests highlight the upcoming season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt soccer team announced Thursday its 2022 schedule which features nine home matches and an exhibition. The Commodores will also play host to five SEC foes this fall.

The season gets underway with a pair of exhibitions, first at home Aug. 8 against UAB before a road trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to play the Crimson Tide Aug. 13.

The regular season officially begins Aug. 18 as part of a two-game road series up North. The Commodores take on Evansville that date before a trip to Purdue on Aug. 21.

The home opener will take place when Western Kentucky visits Music City on Aug. 25. That kicks off a four-game homestand for the Commodores which includes Providence (Aug. 28) and ETSU (Sept. 2).

The program will celebrate alumni weekend September 8-11 with many festivities throughout the four-day affair. A tilt against Lipscomb at the Soccer Complex begins the celebration with first touch set for Sept. 8. Other weekend events include an alumni scrimmage, reception dinner and golf outing.

Vandy concludes its nonconference slate at MTSU on Sept. 11 before ringing in the SEC schedule with a pair of home games against LSU and Kentucky, Sept. 18 and 22, respectively.

The Commodores get back on the road the following week with trips to Missouri (Sept. 25) and Auburn (Sept. 30) on the slate before returning to Nashville to host Georgia on Oct. 6.

A road trip to Arkansas follows Oct. 9 as the Commodores look to avenge last season’s overtime thriller in Music City. The team then faces South Carolina on Oct. 14 before a brief hiatus.

The final week of competition sees a trip to Gainesville, Florida, to face the Gators on Oct. 20 before a return trip home to play Mississippi State on Oct. 23.

The regular-season finale will feature the Commodores’ in-state foe Tennessee in Knoxville on Oct. 27. In 31 meetings between the two powerhouse teams, the Commodores own a 17-10-4 record, including a 2-1 overtime victory in their last meeting.

Vanderbilt is poised for success this season and is looking for their eighth-consecutive trip to the postseason SEC tournament while returning a majority of the 2021 squad that finished second in the SEC East and among the top five of the conference. The 2022 squad will also feature 11 new faces as the team added six freshman and five transfers in the offseason.
