Today we introduce the seventh signee of Head Coach Derek Greene’s 2012 women’s soccer recruiting class: a forward from Potomac, Md., Jamie Kator.

A four-year starter for Coach Bob Gibb at Montgomery Blair High School, Kator led the Blazers to three consecutive appearances in the Maryland 4A West semifinals between 2008 and 2010. She was a three-time selection on the MACS All-State squad and the Washington Post All-Met team, earning first-team recognition on both lists as a senior.
Kator scored 46 goals and dished out a Blair career record 50 assists in her high school career, setting season-highs as a senior with 20 goals and 18 assists this past fall. She also was honored on the 2011 NSCAA All-South Region team. Top Drawer Soccer named her one of the nation’s Top 100 preps in the Class of 2012.
A four-year member of Blair’s honor roll, Kator also excelled away from school in club soccer and with the Olympic Developmental Program. She has been a part of the Region I ODP pool since 2008 and has played on the Region I team during international trips to Costa Rica, Portugal and Spain.
As a member of Coach Nadir Moumen’s Herndon Firecats, Kator has played in the USYSA National League since last year. Prior to that, she helped the Albertson Elite Fury win the 2011 Disney Showcase championship. She also has played with the Super Y Washington Freedom and was a guest player for the McLean Strikers.
Personal: Jamie Lynn Kator… Born August 29, 1994 in Washington, D.C…. Daughter of Nancy and Michael… Has two older siblings: sister Allison (22) and brother Max (20)… Intends to major in biological science.
Coach Greene on Kator:
“Jamie is a tremendous soccer player. She has great technical abilities on the ball. One of things we noticed about her was her craftiness in dribbling at people, but also in being able to distribute to her teammates and put them in really good scoring positions. She’s an excellent playmaker–she can play balls into tights seams and through backlines into a good path for her teammate to run onto. She’s the kind of playmaker we saw helping us be able to score more goals because she can distribute so well in the final third.
“The other great thing about Jamie is that she’s very versatile. We’ve seen her play attacking center mid, center forward, center back and outside back. That’s because she’s not only comfortable on the soccer ball, but she’s also athletic.
“We expect Jamie to come in and compete for starting time with that versatility, but we certainly would love the ability to plug her into the midfield somewhere and have her breaking players down. We have a lot of players coming in like that, but we feel very confident in Jamie’s abilities to help us get to the next level.”
