We remain in the state of Texas today to meet another Frisco Wakeland Wolverine: Goalkeeper Brittanie Barbero.
Barbero has been a starter for Frisco Wakeland for the past four years, including three seasons under Coach Kim Colon and one for Coach Meagan Wilson.
Barbero is a high school teammate of fellow VU signee Ashley Vega. The pair helped lead the Wolverines to consecutive district championships in 2009 and 2010, advancing to the state semifinals in ’09.
The 6’0″ Barbero was the second-team All-District goalkeeper in 2009 after earning honorable mention distinction the year before. On top of her athletic honors, Barbero also has excelled in the classroom at Wakeland, earning the BCIS Student of the Year Award in 2010.
In club soccer, Barbero played for coaches Ben Waldrum and Kenny Medina with Dallas Sting Blue ’93 side. Barbero has played both goalkeeper and forward for the Sting, ranking fourth in goals scored and assists while also posting eight shutouts in the past two years.
