NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt soccer closed out the opening week of the regular season with a 0-0 draw against UMass on Sunday afternoon at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.
Vanderbilt was unable to find the back of the net despite out-shooting UMass 26-4. The Dores allowed just one shot on goal throughout the first half. Vandy registered 16 of their shots in the second half.
Keeper Sara Wojdelko came up with back-to-back saves in the second half to keep the match even. The Dores had multiple opportunities to score in during the 60-minute mark but failed to connect.
Abi Brighton and Ella Eggleston each tallied four shots to lead the way for the Dores.
Vanderbilt tallied seven corners in the last 45 minutes and finished with nine corner kicks on the day while UMass had just one.
Vandy moves to 1-0-1 with the draw.
