Vanderbilt’s women soccer team’s match against Mexico’s U20 National Team scheduled for Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. at the VU Soccer Complex has been canceled.
Due to a new rule passed in the offseason, the match would have counted towards the NCAA maximum of 20 in the fall forcing the cancellation.
Vanderbilt will play an exhibition match at Wake Forest on August 19 before opening its 2008 regular season campaign against Belmont on August 24 at 2 p.m. The home opener is part of the Soccer for the Cure campaign and it will benefit the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
