ESPN3 Streams: Missouri | Kentucky
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s soccer team will look to snap its three-game losing skid this weekend when it hosts Missouri, Friday at 7:00 p.m., and Kentucky, Sunday at 1:00 p.m., from the VU Soccer Complex. Both games will be aired regionally on Fox Sports South and streamed online on ESPN3.
The Commodores (3-6-2, 0-3-0 SEC) are coming off an 0-2 weekend, on the road, where they were outscored by Alabama and Texas A&M, 8-2. Vanderbilt has lost its last nine games to SEC opponents dating back to the middle of last season when they picked up the victory of Arkansas.
Despite the losing streak the ‘Dores still rank as having one of the top scoring attacks in the league, averaging 2.18 goals per game. That scoring attack has been led all season by sophomore Cheyna Williams who, with just one goal this weekend, will become the first Commodore since 1995 to score at least 10 goals in a season.
Missouri (6-5-0, 2-1-0 SEC) comes into Nashville in just their second season as a member of the SEC. The Tigers hold the advantage over the Commodores, 2-0-2 all-time. Last season, in Columbia, Mizzou defeated Vandy 2-0.
The Tigers also have one of the best offenses in the league, tied with Vandy at 2.18 goals per game. Missouri is coming a off a thrilling 1-0 victory over No. 7 Florida, at home, last weekend.
Kentucky (8-2-1, 2-1-0 SEC) will take on Vanderbilt for the 29th time since the series began in 1991. The teams are deadlocked at 14 wins apiece in the 22 year history. The Wildcats will play Friday night in Starkville against Mississippi State before heading to the VU Soccer Complex.
Fox Sports South will carry the television coverage on both Friday and Sunday. Mike Hogewood (pxp) and Katie Witham (color) will be on the call Friday night. Dave Baker will provide play-by-play alongside Witham for Sunday’s contest. ESPN3 will also be streaming both matches live on the web.
Gates will open at 6:00 p.m., on Friday night, with the first 100 students (with valid student ID) receiving a koozie and free sandwiches curtesy of Jersey Mike’s. Sunday’s game with Kentucky will be a “Pink Out” in honor of breast cancer awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear pink, there will also be free pink wristbands and eyeblack on a first-come, first-served basis.
