NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Vanderbilt closes out its six-game road trip this weekend against Florida and South Carolina.

The Commodores (3-5-2) will face Florida on Friday at 7 p.m. CT and will then take on South Carolina on Sunday at noon CT.

The Gators are 4-4-2 overall and 0-2 in Southeastern Conference action after losing to Georgia and Tennessee on the road last weekend. KeLeigh Hudson leads the team in scoring with three goals and three assists, while goalkeeper Katie Fraine sports a 0.80 goals against average with four shutouts in nine starts.

“Florida is extremely athletic and has very good soccer players so matching up with them is going to be a big challenge for us,” said Vanderbilt head coach Ronnie Coveleskie.

The Gamecocks are ranked No. 20 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. They opened the year with seven straight wins, including a 1-0 upset win over No. 1 North Carolina. USC is also 0-2 in conference action after dropping road contests to Tennessee and Georgia in overtime. Darcel Mollon leads the team with seven goals and two asists and goalkeeper Lindsay Thorstenson anchors the defense with a 0.85 goals against average and three shutouts.

“South Carolina is playing some very good soccer right now,” added Coveleskie. “Quite frankly, to compete with either team, we’re going to have to bring our best game. They’re not top-20 teams because they’re not deserving. They are there because they’re darn good.”
