PENSACOLA, Fla. – Fifth-seeded Vanderbilt fell to 12th-seeded Alabama, 2-1, in the first round of the SEC Tournament at the Brosnaham Soccer Complex on Sunday night.
Alabama’s Nadia Ramadan broke open the scoring off an unassisted goal in the ninth minute of the match. In the 18th minute, defender Gessica Skorka found Zivana Labovic to give the Crimson Tide a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Commodores earned just four corner kicks in the match. In the 77th minute Courtney Jones took the corner for Vandy, finding Ella Eggleston who headed it on the right side to bring the Dores within one. Vandy fought in the final 10 minutes, adding two shots but couldn’t connect.
The 2024 NCAA Tournament selection show will take place on Monday, Nov. 11.
