Here’s a look at how former Commodores are doing on varioius professional golf tours, with Brandt Snedeker leading the pack after a second-place finish at The Barclays, the first FedExCup Playoff event, over the weekend at Bethpage Black.
Brandt Snedeker
Tour: PGA Tour
Last Tournament: The Barclays, the first playoff tournament in the FedEx Cup. Sneds entered the event in 19th place in the Fed Ex Cup standings after the regular season ended in Greensboro at the Wyndham Championship with 1,194 points, and after an impressive second-place finish, he is now in second place with 2,694 points, ahead of PGA stars Tiger Woods (3rd) and Rory McIlroy (4th).
Next Tournament: Deutsche Bank Championship, Norton, Mass., August 30-September 2. It’s the second FedExCup Playoff event.
Quick FedEx Cup Explanation: The top 125 golfers in the Fed Ex Cup rankings competed at The Barclays, the top 100 will compete at the Deutsche Bank, the top 70 at the BMW Championship, and then the top 30 at the Tour Championship. The points earned in the first three playoff events will be added to the regular season points total. Additionally, point values are ratcheted up for the playoffs – the winner of each playoff event receives 2,500 points, which is more than four times the amount a golfer receives for winning a major tournament. The winner of the Tour Championship, the final Fed Ex Cup Playoff event and one in which points reset, wins a $10 million bonus.
Ranking: 2nd
Notes on Sneds: Sneds made a crucial par save on 17 at The Barclays, and then drained a birdie putt on 18 to move ahead of Sergio Garcia, who bogeyed 18, for second-place and a check for $864,000. Ryder Cup captain’s selections are also upcoming from Davis Love III, and there is considerable chatter in golf circles that the former Commodore star could be one of his picks.

Luke List
Tour: Web.com Tour
Last Tournament: List entered the News Sentinel Open in Knoxville as the leading money winner on the Web.com Tour, missed the cut in Knoxville, and is still the leading money winner.
Next Tournament: Mylan Classic, Southpointe Golf Club, Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, August 30-September 2.
Ranking: 1st
Notes on Luke: The 2007 Vanderbilt graduate looks to be in good shape in receiving his PGA Tour Card, which goes to the top 25 on the Web.com Tour money list. Including the upcoming Mylan Classic, there are eight tournaments left in the year, and the higher he places on the Web.com money list, the better PGA Tour events he’ll be invited to in 2013.
Jon Curran
Tour: Hooters Tour
Last Tournament: ICE Recycling “Environmental” Classic, Country Club of South Carolina, Florence, S.C., where he finished in a tie for 28th with a total score of eight-under par.
