LAS VEGAS — Six Vanderbilt Commodores are among the 152 women competing at the United States Bowling Congress Team USA Trials, a five-day test of bowling prowess to select roster members for Team USA and Junior Team USA.

The trials are being held at the Gold Coast Bowling Center and conclude Saturday.

Vanderbilt dominated the 2022 Junior Team USA roster with seven members that included Mabel Cummins (a five-time team member), Amanda Naujokas, Jennifer Loredo, Paige Peters, Alyssa Ballard, Caroline Thesier and Victoria Varano. Cummins, Ballard, Varano, Loredo and Thesier are in this year’s field along with Commodore senior Amelia Kiefer.

The top four age eligible juniors based upon ranking points from this week and the 2022 summer’s Junior Gold earn automatic spots on the 2023 squad along with two bowlers chosen by the National Selection Committee.

The tournament is a demanding test with five different oil patterns over the course of the week. The field includes professional bowlers and nine of the current 12 members of Team USA are back competing.
