Sisters to compete at NCAA Championships

Nov. 16, 2011

Heading into the NCAA Championships at Terre Haute, Ind. next Monday, senior Alexa Rogers will be competing against a familiar–and familial–face. Her younger sister, Natosha, a junior at Texas A&M, qualified as an individual for the Nationals. Alexa shared a couple of thoughts on competing against her sister:

What did you do after you found out you both qualified?
“We called each other immediately! She is my best friend and we were both so excited to find out that we were going to run my last college race together.”

Did you train together when you were younger?
“My sister and I have always done everything together. We have trained together for all of our running careers. She is my source of strength and pushes me to be better on and off the course. She is amazing and the athlete I look up to the most.”

Any sibling rivalry?
“There has never been rivalry between us. The day we started to compete against one another we made a pact that no matter who crossed the line first our relationship would never change. We wanted to push each other and never hold back. A race isn’t truly a race if someone holds back.”
