Seven home games on 2018 football slate

Sept. 19, 2017

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Vanderbilt will play seven football games on campus next year, Vanderbilt Athletics and the Southeastern Conference announced today.

The Commodores will open the 2018 season with three straight nonconference games. Vanderbilt hosts Middle Tennessee in the opener on Sept. 1, then faces Nevada for the first time ever on campus on Sept 8.

Vanderbilt embarks on its second trip ever to South Bend, Ind., on Sept. 15 to face Notre Dame. The Commodores’ only other appearance in South Bend came early in the 1995 season.

The Commodores return to Nashville after Notre Dame to host South Carolina in their SEC opener on Sept. 22 and neighboring Tennessee State on Sept. 29.

Vanderbilt faces a difficult October. The month includes games against four straight conference opponents, including three on the road.

Vanderbilt opens the month with a trip to Georgia on Oct. 6. After facing the Bulldogs, Vanderbilt returns to campus Oct. 13 to take on Florida. The Commodores are back on the road after the Florida game, facing Kentucky in Lexington on Oct. 20 and Arkansas in Fayetteville on Oct. 27.

After a bye on Nov. 3, the Commodores make their final road appearance of the season, facing Missouri Nov. 10 in Columbia.
