Senior Night Win

Late goal lifts the Commodores

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Adysen Armenta delivered the game-winner in the 87th minute to lift No. 25 Vanderbilt to a 2–1 victory over Yale on Senior Night at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.

Vanderbilt (4-1-0) struck first in the 36th minute when junior Courtney Jones buried a free kick into the top left corner for her third goal of the season, giving the Commodores a 1–0 lead at halftime.

Yale (2-1-0) leveled the match in the 80th minute as JoJo DeNegri set up Vienna Lundstedt for the equalizer. Just seven minutes later, Armenta answered, shaking off a defender and firing a top-shelf finish to secure the victory.

The Commodores controlled 62 percent of possession and put 13 shots on target, but Yale goalkeeper Kyla Holmes kept the Bulldogs close with 11 saves.

Prior to the match, Vanderbilt honored six seniors in a pregame ceremony: Vivian Akyirem, Ally Bollig, Grace Freeman, Alexa Gianoplus, Hannah McLaughlin, and Maci Teater.

Vanderbilt continues its homestand Thursday, hosting No. 16 Georgetown at 7 p.m. at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex. The match will air live on SEC Network+.
