The tie gives Vanderbilt a record of 5-6-5 while Ole Miss goes to 8-8-2. Both teams were currently the third seed in their respective SEC divisions until new polls come out on Monday morning. Goal scored for the Dores came from junior Meghan Habig. The goal put Habig on the top of the SEC in goals scored with seven in SEC games. The goal was assisted by Lauren Mitchell who played a very tough and tiresome game for Vanderbilt. Goalkeeper Tyler Griffin registered five saves on the day while the Ole Miss goalkeeper Ann Shelton had four saves on the days. “Today was a hard fought match between two teams with very similar styles of play,” said Head Coach Ronnie Coveleskie Hill. “<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Mississippi is a very good team and we have a tremendous amount of respect for what Steve has accomplished with his team.”<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?> “As a team, we have got to begin to focus on how to win,” said Hill. “Since the beginning of September, when we lost four straight games, we have figured out how not to lose as a team. Although that is an accomplishment, we have got to begin to think big picture. And we if want to contend for an SEC championship, we must set our sights on playing for an entire 90 minutes and producing a win.” “Once again, Meghan Habig scores our goal. I continue to be impressed with her confidence in front of the net in clutch situations. She has that look in her eye?the look of a champion who wants the ball when the game is on the line.” The Commodores will face Kentucky in their last SEC regular season game of the 2004 season. The game will be held in Lexington on October 29th at 7:30 p.m. |
