NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vandy fans will have ample opportunity to watch their Commodores in action this season, as three soccer matches will be broadcasted live by the SEC Network. In 2016, the SEC Network and ESPNU will air a combined 30 SEC women’s soccer games, including the entire SEC Soccer Tournament.
The conference officially announced the 2016 soccer television schedule Tuesday afternoon, with two Vanderbilt home games available to SEC Network subscribers via the watchESPN app as a part of SEC Network+. In addition, three conference road games will be broadcasted live on national television once league play begins in early September.
The `Dores premiere on SEC Network+ with a huge match against the Florida State Seminoles on Thursday, August 25th at 7:30 pm CT. The home opener against FSU will be the Commodores first competition against the Seminoles, who advanced all the way to last season’s NCAA tournament semifinals.
Three days later, VU is back on the pitch with a 2:00 pm CT match against Jackson State being aired again on the SEC Network+. All Vandy home games besides the squad’s exhibition against SEMO on August 9th and Sept 1st game against Murray State will be on the SEC Network+.
Vandy’s first televised live conference matchup of the year against Auburn will be televised live from the Planes on the SEC Network at 6:00 pm CT. VU’s two additional linear games will be played on the road against Mississippi State on ESPN U (9/18) and Arkansas on the SEC Network (10/6).
Extensive coverage of Southeastern Conference soccer and volleyball continues for the third year on SEC Network beginning August 14. SEC Network +, the digital extension of SEC Network available on WatchESPN, is set to feature more than 250 matchups, with an additional 50 soccer games and 80 volleyball matches slated for the SEC Network television channel and ESPNU. National coverage of the two sports has quintupled since SEC Network’s launch in 2014 and more than 300 matchups will be nationally available this season. This year’s schedule also includes one soccer and four volleyball wildcard matches on SEC Network.
The women’s soccer season begins on Sunday, August 14, with streaming coverage of Georgia Southern at Georgia on SEC Network +. In addition to the regular-season, SEC Network also carries the First Round, Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches of the SEC Soccer Tournament, with the Championship game airing on ESPNU.
