Schonk, Vreeland named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A pair of rising Vanderbilt seniors were honored Monday for what they accomplished in the classroom as juniors.

Mallory Schonk and Annie Vreeland were named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division I Academic Honor Roll. They were two of 256 Division I women’s lacrosse players honored. A record number 839 student-athletes from 257 institutions in Division I, II, III and NAIA were recognized.

Schonk, a senior attacker from Perry Hall, Md., is majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies: Cognitive and Linguistic Development. Vreeland, a senior midfielder from Short Hills, N.J., is majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies: Organizational Leadership and Management.

In order to be nominated, student-athletes had to achieve at least junior status academically and have a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or higher.

In addition, the 2015 Vanderbilt team was named an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad. A total of 87 Division I schools received the honor, which was given to teams with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Commodores had a team GPA of 3.372 for the 2014-15 school year.
