BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Vanderbilt emerged from an up-and-down day Thursday in Birmingham with an even-par round at the SEC Championships.
The Commodores remained at 7-under-par through 36 holes and are tied for seventh place heading into Friday’s final day of stroke play. LSU has the team lead at 28-under-par.
Fresh off a 5-under-par first round, Celina Sattelkau continued to find birdies Thursday. The sophomore shot a 69 and is 8-under-par for the tournament.
Sattelkau is tied for second and two shots back of LSU’s South Carolina’s Pauline Roussin-Bouchard (-10).
Tess Davenport carded a second 69 in a row and is tied for 12th at 6-under-par. Louise Yu improved her standing with a 73 and is tied for 49th at 3-over-par for the tournament.
Auston Kim (+7) fell into a tie for 57th after an 8-over-par 80 and Morgan Baxendale (+9) is tied for 63rd.
“Tess and Celina were solid and carried us again today,” Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “We talked after the round about what tomorrow will bring and what we must do.
“That is remain patient, control our emotions and embrace the pressure that comes with trying to make the cut.”
Vandy is scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. Friday. Live scoring for the event can be found HERE.
