NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt soccer announced Thursday the return of goalkeeper Sara Wojdelko for her fifth and final season.
“Having Wojo’s presence back in goal next fall gives us a lot of confidence in how we want to play,” said head coach Darren Ambrose. “She had a breakout season as a senior and proved she belongs among the best in the SEC. I’m excited for her to help lead our team with her experience and maturity.”
Last season, Wojdelko led the Commodores with a 10-2-4 record, posting seven clean sheets which tied for seventh most in program history. The Northville, Michigan, native finished with a 0.83 goals-against-average which is the seventh-best in a single season in program history.
The keeper totaled a career-high 54 saves during the 2024 campaign including 14 against reigning national champion Florida State to help the Dores advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history. Wojdelko’s 14 saves during the round of 32 marked the most in a single game by a Commodore since 1992.
“It’s been a real pleasure watching Wojo develop over the past few years, I’m excited to keep working with her into the next season,” said goalkeeper coach Daniel O’Hare. “The maturity she has, both on and off the pitch, is a key part of what we’re building here. I’m really looking forward to seeing her continue to grow, not just as a player but as a person as well.”
Wojdelko will graduate in May with an undergraduate degree in medicine, health, and society and then will pursue a master’s degree in medicine, health and society with ambitions to go to medical school.
