NASHVILLE, Tenn. — This weekend, the Vanderbilt men’s tennis team extends its road trip to compete against No. 29 Florida on Friday and No. 19 South Carolina on Sunday.
The Commodores (11-9, 2-6 SEC) last competed against No. 8 Texas A&M last Friday, falling to the Aggies 6-1. After Vanderbilt dropped the doubles point, senior Jeremie Casabon picked up a point for the Dores in singles, defeating his Aggie opponent in the third set.
The Dores hold the No. 48 spot in the latest ITA rankings, with freshman Danil Panarin ranked No. 72 nationally in singles.
Florida
The Gators are 10-9 overall and 4-5 in the SEC. Last weekend saw Florida add a win to its record, defeating Georgia in Athens 4-2. The Gators boast three student-athletes ranked nationally in singles, as well as two doubles tandems.
South Carolina
The Gamecocks (11-10, 4-5 SEC) split their matches last weekend, picking up a 4-3 win over Georgia and dropping Sunday’s match to Tennessee 0-4. Two of South Carolina’s student-athletes are featured in this week’s ITA singles rankings, as well as one of their doubles pairs.
Up Next: Vanderbilt returns home next weekend to face No. 37 LSU on Friday and No. 38 Georgia on Sunday before heading to the SEC tournament the following weekend.
