CINCINNATI – Hat tricks from Brooke Baker, Bailey Lower and Regan Torrisi led Vanderbilt to a dominant 15-2 win at Xavier Saturday morning at Corcoran Field.
Vanderbilt (4-5) jumped out to an early lead, scoring six goals in the first quarter and adding four more in the second to take a commanding 10-0 advantage into halftime. The Commodores held Xavier (2-7) scoreless for more than 40 minutes before the Musketeers got on the board late in the third period.
Shea Panzik recorded two goals while Anna Taraboletti finished with a goal and an assist. Gabby Putman added a goal and an assist while controlling the draw with a game-high and career-tying nine draw controls.
In goal, Emme Martin made five saves in 55 minutes to earn the win before Molly Joyce played the final five minutes and added a save. The Commodores outshot Xavier 30-16 and held a 13-6 advantage in draw controls. Vanderbilt also forced 14 turnovers, led by Emma Davis’ three, while the Dores committed just three turnovers.
Vandy continues it road swing next Saturday to open conference play at Old Dominion. Opening draw is set for 11 a.m. CT on ESPN+.
