NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt lacrosse returns home for its regular-season finale on Saturday hosting Cincinnati at noon on ESPN+. The Dores will recognize 12 seniors in addition to three graduate students in a pregame ceremony.
The Commodores are coming off an 18-7 loss at 16th-ranked James Madison last weekend. Kemper Robinson and Josie Ward each scored two goals for Vandy. Ella Smith dished three assists, marking three consecutive games with at least two assists. Paige Gunning posted a season-high 17 saves in the cage, her most since recording a career-high 20 saves at Florida on May 7, 2022.
Cincinnati is coming off an 18-6 loss to No. 9 Florida last weekend at Nippert Stadium. Lauren Ottensmeyer leads the scoring for the Bearcats with 56 goals on the season, the second most in the conference. Camryn Callaghan has the second-most Bearcat goals this season with 55, the third-most in the conference.
Vanderbilt leads 9-3 all-time against Cincinnati in a series that started in 2008 when the Commodores topped the Bearcats 20-4, tied for the largest margin of victory for Vandy. Last season Cincinnati beat the Dores 19-6 at Nippert Stadium.
The winner between the two teams will secure the last spot in the 2024 American Athletic Conference Tournament, which is set to kick off on Thursday afternoon in Nashville.
