RICHMOND, Va. — Myles Stute posted 20 points and six rebounds to lead three individuals from the Vanderbilt men’s basketball team in double figures Wednesday, but it was not enough as the Commodores fell 70-65 to VCU at the Siegel Center.
Stute connected on 6 of 9 attempts from 3-point range, with Liam Robbins adding 14 points—all in the second half—and Ezra Manjon scoring 12 and four assists. Quentin Millora-Brown led the Dores (3-4) with seven rebounds, and Trey Thomas chipped in eight points off the bench.
Adrian Baldwin Jr. had a game-best 28 points for the Rams (5-2), who also got 13 points from Jamir Watkins.
Vandy trailed 48-38 with 13 minutes remaining in the contest, but fought back to take the lead with a 10-0 run. After VCU grew its advantage back to nine with the aid of six technical free throws, the Commodores rebounded to tie it up again with four minutes to go after Manjon’s pull-up jumper and a Robbins free throw. Baldwin gave the Rams the lead for good with a pair of free throws at the 3:14 mark.
VCU was 25 of 37 at the free-throw line in the game.
The Dores will return home to play host to Wofford at 4 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gymnasium.
