Pulley, Bernstein to showcase talents to NFL scouts at upcoming events

Commodore senior offensive linemen Spencer Pulley and Jake Bernstein will showcase their talents to National Football League scouts in upcoming postseason events.

Pulley, a three-year starter from Memphis, Tenn., will participate in the inaugural Tropic Bowl, scheduled Sunday, Jan. 17 in Miami, Fla. The all-star game starts at 12 noon CT in North Miami Stadium. It will not be televised.

Bernstein, a three-year starting guard from Lake in the Hills, Ill., will participated in the College Gridiron Showcase & Symposium, a four-day event later this week near Dallas. The activity includes daily practices, an array of NFL-related education seminars, and concluding scrimmage.

Last week, tight end Steven Scheu and safety Andrew Williamson were officially invited to participated in the East-West Shrine Game, scheduled Jan. 23 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Pulley was voted the Commodores’ offensive captain after the 2015 season. As a senior, he started all 12 games at center after starting as a sophomore and junior at guard. Pulley contributed 35 pancake blocks this season, and earned the team’s top blocking honors in six encounters. He also garnered conference recognition, earning the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors for his stellar performance in Vanderbilt’s victory over Missouri.

Pulley ended his Commodore career with 41 starts, including starting assignments in his last 37 consecutive games.

Bernstein matched Pulley’s 41 career starts, each coming at offensive guard. He also closed his career with 26 consecutive starts.

As a 12-game starting senior, Bernstein topped the Commodore offensive line corps with 63 pancake blocks. After becoming a starter late in his redshirt freshman season, Bernstein concluded his Commodore career with a team-leading 176 domination blocks.
