NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With Vanderbilt’s men’s tennis season just around the corner, senior Ryan Preston and junior Nick Cromydas each added a 2007 preseason singles seeding to their resume after the release of the preseason ITA rankings. In addition to the singles rankings, Preston and Vijay Paul are also ranked in doubles play.
A two-time All-SEC selection, Preston is ranked No. 29 in the singles poll. A native of Northbrook, Ill., Preston closed the 2006-07 season with a No. 53 ranking after playing the entire season in Vanderbilt’s No. 1 position. Preston was ranked 44th following the 2005-06 season.
Cromydas is ranked No. 74 heading into the season after finishing the 2006-07 season as the No. 122 ranked player. A native of Glenview, Ill., Cromydas played last season in the No. 2 position.
Vanderbilt’s doubles team of Preston and Vijay Paul enter the doubles rankings at No. 44. Paul is a sophomore from Medford, N.J. Last season, the duo finished 2-6 overall in limited action.
The Commodores will begin their 2007-08 season on Friday playing host to the two-day Vanderbilt Invitational. Also competing at the event will be East Tennessee State, Louisville, and Tennessee.
