NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Preseason accolades are rolling in for the Vanderbilt men’s golf team ahead of the 2025-26 season, as multiple publications have handed out numerous honors to the Commodores this week.
Wells Honored by NBC Golf Channel
Senior Wells Williams earned another preseason All-American honor this week, as on Friday NBC Golf Channel selected the West Point, Mississippi, native to its 2025-26 preseason All-American second team. It is the third preseason recognition for Williams this week, as on Monday he was named to the Fred Haskins Fall Watch List, and on Thursday was selected to the Golfweek selected him to its preseason All-American third team.
Watch Out for These Freshmen
A pair of first-year golfers from Vanderbilt’s No. 1-ranked signing class have garnered preseason recognition. Will Hartman and Michael Riebe were each named to Golfweek’s Freshmen to Watch list on Friday. Additionally, Riebe has been selected to the NBC Golf Channel All-Freshman first team.
Preseason Polls
The preseason prognosticators project another strong season ahead for the Commodores in 2025-26, as Vanderbilt is a consensus top-15 team nationally in all three major preseason men’s golf rankings.
NBC Golf Channel placed Vanderbilt at No. 10 in its preseason rankings. The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches Poll slotted the Dores in at No. 12 in its preseason poll. Golfweek’s 2025-26 men’s golf preseason poll has Vanderbilt at No. 13.
The Vanderbilt men’s golf team opens the 2025-26 campaign Friday, as the Dores tee off Round 1 of the 2025 Carmel Cup. Vandy begins play at 12:48 p.m. CT at Spyglass Hill Golf Course in Pebble Beach, California, with Round 2 taking place on Saturday and Round 3 on Sunday.
