Vanderbilt completes second day of Commodore Invitational against Auburn

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Going up against Auburn on the second day of the Commodore Invitational at Currey Tennis Center Saturday, Vanderbilt won a singles match and a doubles match against the Tigers.

Together for the first time in doubles play, George Harwell and Connor Robb-Wilcox paired to take an 8-6 victory over Diego Chavarria and Anders Fry. With the match transitioning to singles play, Marcus Ferreira earned his second straight-set singles victory of the weekend with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Maxwell Giddens.

Elsewhere in singles, Jeremie Casabon and James Ignatowich both split their first two sets but ultimately lost tightly-contested third sets with Casabon falling 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) and Ignatowich 6-1, 1-6, 7-5. Adam Sraberg also played a lengthy three-set match, falling to Diego Chavarria 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Finishing the lone home fall tournament of the 2020 fall season at Currey Tennis Center on Sunday, Vanderbilt will take on Kentucky at 2 p.m. Fans are not permitted at Currey, but can follow the matches with live scoring and streaming.
