Vandy clinches final spot in conference tournament

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Brooke Baker, Logan Risenhoover and Kemper Robinson each tallied a hat trick to lift the Commodores over Cincinnati, 14-9, Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale.

With the win, the Dores clinch the fourth and final spot in the American Athletic Conference Tournament which will be hosted in Nashville.

Vanderbilt (9-7, 3-3 AAC) had seven scorers on the day. Risenhoover posted a career-high four points off a career-best three goals and one assist. Molly Finlay added four points for Vandy with two goals and two assists. Sammy Nuchow, Ella Smith and Cate Bradley each found the back of the cage once.

Maggie Arnold picked up three ground balls to tie for the team lead. Sophomore Katherine Ernst registered a career-high six draw controls. Paige Gunning tallied 10 saves in cage and made her 600th career save, good for Vanderbilt’s all-time record.

Cincinnati (10-7, 2-4 AAC) was led by Ava Goeller who registered a hat trick after she opened the scoring 20 seconds into the game. Grace Jenny scored twice for the Bearcats and won five draw controls. Cincinnati caused four turnovers in the game, the least by any opponent this year for Vandy.

Vanderbilt’s season continues Thursday as they will play in the semifinals of the AAC Tournament as the fourth seed. The Dores are set to face top-seeded Florida at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex. Opening draw will be at 4:30 p.m. and shown on ESPN+.
