Vanderbilt Head Coach Melanie Balcomb:
On Old Dominion:
“They’re (Old Dominion) a good team. They are as good as they were on film. They play hard the whole time. They have a hunger and an attitude that I think we need to learn.”
On the difference in the game:
“They’re very physical, they’re very aggressive. They dictated us all night on defense. They attacked the basket and got to the free throw line. We’re just too passive on both ends of the floor. We took hits instead of making contact and getting position, whether it was in the post or on the perimeter. We struggled so all of our timing was off. We didn’t take anything away from them.”
On Vanderbilt’s play:
“Every time we made a run, then they would open it up again. That’s when they got the momentum going again. We weren’t doing a good job in transition defense. We were missing shots. We had trouble defending. If you miss a lot of shots, they’re going to be off and running in transition.”
On Vanderbilt’s shooting woes:
“I don’t think we’ve shot the ball well all year. It’s something we are working on and are going to continue to work on. We have a lot of young players who are playing a lot and not making shots and not shooting with the confidence they need to shoot it with.”
