The 12th-ranked Vanderbilt women’s golf team finished the PING/ASU Invitational at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz., in 13th place with a final team score of 905 (300-302-303). Junior Kendall Martindale was Vanderbilt’s top finisher, ending the tournament in a tie for 20th with a score of 218 (73-73-72).
On Sunday, the Commodores counted Martindale’s 72, Simin Feng’s 74, Jennifer Hahn’s 78, and Antonia Scherer’s 79. Irina Gabasa fired an 82 in her final round in Tempe.
South Carolina won the team title by six strokes over Arizona State, Duke, and Washington with a total of 853 (288-280-285). Duke’s Celine Boutier won medalist honors with an eight-under, 208 (69-69-70).
The Commodores are back in action at the SEC Championships April 18-20 in Birmingham, Ala.
