NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Irish Women’s National Lacrosse Team recorded their highest finish in international play over the weekend, and Vanderbilt junior Caroline Peters was right in the middle of the historic run.

Peters capped off a superb tournament with two goals and an assist Saturday to help Ireland defeat Germany 8-4 take fifth place at the 2015 Women’s Lacrosse European Championship.

It was a fantastic ending to a great six games for Peters, who was named to the All-European Championship Tournament Team. The attacker tied for the third-most goals in the tournament with 17 goals. She also had 21 points, which was tied for sixth-most among players in the 17-team field.

Peters scored multiple goals in five games, including three games of three goals or more. Against Latvia, she scored six goals and was named the Player of the Match and the AMC Consulting Player of the Game.

Ireland finished second in group play with a 2-1 record (losing to England, the eventual champion) to advance to the quarterfinals. The Irish then fell to Scotland, which finished third in the tournament, but bounced back with wins over Latvia and Germany to take fifth.

Peters is from Rockville, Md., but has dual citizenship in the United States and Ireland because her maternal grandfather was born there. This is the third time she has played for the Irish National Team in international play. The Irish took eighth in the 2012 European Championships and 10th at the 2013 World Cup.
