Peters, Ireland advance to quarterfinals of European Championships

Wednesday’s Quarterfinal Match

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Thanks to some firepower from Caroline Peters, Team Ireland has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2015 Women’s Lacrosse European Championships.

The Vanderbilt junior notched her second hat trick of the tournament and added an assist on Sunday to help the Irish defeat Belgium 19-3 in Nymburk, Czech Republic. With the victory, Ireland finished pool play with a 2-1 record to advance to the round of eight.

Peters and Ireland will play England at 9 a.m. (2 a.m. Central Standard Time) on Wednesday, with the winner advancing to the semifinals. The game can be watched via live stream here. The loser will fall into the consolation bracket to battle for fifth place.

Peters leads Ireland with eight goals and 10 points through the first three games. She also ranks eighth in the entire tournament, which includes 17 countries, in goals and points.

The Rockville, Md., native, who has dual citizenship with the United States and Ireland, scored 24 goals and had 11 assists for the Commodores this past spring.
