NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s Selah Peacock was named the SEC Female Freshman of the Week as part of the weekly swimming and diving awards announced Tuesday afternoon.
Peacock began her collegiate career with a win in her first race, the 1000-yard freestyle (10:24.57) in a dual meet against LSU. She also picked up a second place finish in her other individual race of the afternoon, the 500-yard freestyle (5:08.08).
The following week against Alabama and West Florida, Peacock finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:22.50), improving on her time from the week before. Peacock is one of three Vanderbilt freshmen to earn consecutive podium finishes to begin their collegiate careers.
Georgia’s Megan Kingsley was named the Female Swimmer of the Week, while Missouri’s Alexa Beckwith took home the diving honors.
Peacock and the Commodores will be back in the pool next Friday, Oct. 14, when they travel to San Diego, Calif. to take on San Diego State and UC San Diego.
