NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For the second time in as many weeks, Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia has been chosen the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Offensive Player of the Week it was announced on Monday.
In the Commodores’ 44-20 victory at Virginia Tech, Pavia accounted for 254 yards of total offense with 166 coming after halftime to help Vandy rally from a 10-point deficit at the break. That included throwing for 193 yards and two touchdowns after completing 12-of-18 attempts while also rushing for 61 yards on 11 carries. His efforts helped the Dores end the night with 490 yards of total offense, the first time they have posted 475 or more in consecutive outings since beating Ole Miss and Tennessee in the final two games of the 2016 regular season.
It was his third straight contest throwing for multiple scores, the 10th time he’s accomplished the feat in 15 starts as a Commodore as he moved into 10th place on the school’s all-time list with 25 career touchdown passes in the process.
After two weeks, Pavia ranks second in the SEC and among the top 10 nationally with a 199.56 pass efficiency rating having connected on 32-of-43 attempts for 468 yards and five touchdowns. He is among the top 10 in the country in yards per completion and attempt, and in the top 20 in passing touchdowns as well.
It’s the third time since the start of the 2024 season that he has been named the TSWA Offensive Player of the Week.
Pavia and the Dores next face No. 11/10 South Carolina, with play on SEC Network getting underway at 6:45 p.m. CT in Columbia.
