Pavia Picks up Pair of Awards

Vandy quarterback honored by Associated Press and Manning Award again

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt football’s Diego Pavia added to his 2025 accolades this week with announcements that he has been selected the Associated Press National Player of the Week as well as a Manning Award Star of the Week.

It marks the second time this season the graduate quarterback from Albuquerque, New Mexico, has earned the AP’s award and the fifth occasion he has been honored by the Manning Award. Commodore fans now have until 9 a.m. CT Wednesday to vote for Pavia to be recognized as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week by following the Manning Award on social media (@ManningAward).

Pavia helped cement his status as a frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy on Saturday after helping lead Vandy to a 45-24 victory at No. 18/18 Tennessee with 433 yards of total offense including a career-best 165 yards rushing. His touchdown pass to Tre Richardson 12 seconds before halftime provided the first of 17 straight points that would go on to put the Dores in front for good and he later had a 24-yard scoring run midway through the fourth quarter that gave Vanderbilt a double digit lead the rest of the way. In addition to leading all players in rushing, Pavia completed 18-of-28 passes for 268 yards.

With the performance, he became the first individual in the SEC since Jayden Daniels in 2023 to post over 250 passing yards and run for more than 150 yards in a game.

Pavia’s effort in the contest helped him set the school season record with 3,192 passing yards while surpassing 1,500 yards rushing in his time with the program as well. He also moved into seventh place on the Commodores’ career record list with 17 touchdowns rushing.

Vanderbilt posted the first 10-victory season in the history of the program as well as set a school record with six SEC wins with the defeat of the Volunteers.
