Osemwegie, Davis Playing in All-American Classic 1/13/2006
Las Vegas, Nev. — Vanderbilt All-Southeastern Conference linebacker Moses Osemwegie and wide receiver Erik Davis will showcase their talents to professional scouts Saturday in the Second Annual Las Vegas All-American Classic. Osemwegie, a two-time First Team All-SEC performer who concluded his Commodore career as the leading active tackler in the conference, and Davis, one of the all-time Vanderbilt receivers, will play for the East squad in the all-star game. Osemwegie, a resident of Nashville and graduate of Montgomery Bell Academy near the Vanderbilt campus, ranked among the SEC and national leaders this season with 83 solo tackles and 118 total tackles. He also topped the team with 9.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles while adding a pair of interceptions. He was also named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week following his performance against Ole Miss. Though limited by injuries during the second half of the season, Davis ranked among the SEC leaders with a single-season career high of 46 receptions, good for 619 yards and three touchdowns. He opened the year with at least six receptions in each of the first five games, then get a career high with eight catches in his final Commodore appearance at Florida. The 2005 All-American Classic produced 27 players that eventually made National Football League rosters. Osemwegie and Davis are among 10 SEC players participating in the All-American Classic. |
