NASHVILLE, Tenn. — With quarterback Diego Pavia shadowing the coaching staff instead of taking snaps, the rest of the Vanderbilt offense captured the Black and Gold Spring Game, 40-38, on Saturday afternoon at FirstBank Stadium.
Fifth-year head coach Clark Lea, the E. Bronson Ingram Chair in Football, saw his sides go back and forth on a sun-splashed Saturday afternoon. The defense got off to a strong start, forcing two early turnovers, before the offense rebounded in the second quarter and eventually secured the win.
With Pavia secure in his starting role, Lea and offensive coordinator Tim Beck got an extensive look at the remaining signal-callers. Drew Dickey, Blaze Berlowitz, Jérémy St-Hilaire and Whit Muschamp all saw full contact with a final chance to play this spring.
The scrimmage marked the conclusion of spring practice. The team will now prepare for final exams and a short break in May before returning at the end of the month to begin summer workouts. The 2025 season begins back at FirstBank Stadium on Aug. 30 against Charleston Southern.
Season tickets are on sale now, with limited premium seating remaining in the Commodore Club section of the new south end zone facility.
